QuickBooks Online Integration

QuickBooks Online users can connect with BigTime, just like desktop users. You'll follow the same step-by-step in the basic integration instructions, but you'll click the CONNECT TO QB ONLINE button (in the initial integration page) instead of the CONNECT TO QUICKBOOKS button.

When you do, you'll be forwarded automatically to your QB Online login page. Just login as the QuickBooks Administrative User and follow the step by step instructions online to give BigTime access to your online data file.

Do Not Activate User-Level Security in QuickBooks

Note that you'll need to turn off the built-in "user" security settings in QuickBooks (if you don't, You'll have to login and provide a "session id" for every transaction you try to process through BigTime).

Once the step-by-step is completed, you'll be given a security code which you can copy and paste into BigTime. That code is what BigTime will use to connect to your QuickBooks data.

Online Limitations

The Online product is much more limited than the QuickBooks desktop product. It is literally years behind the desktop product in terms of the data that it allows BigTime to access. As of this printing, the Online product would still not permit BigTime (or any integrated application) access to A/R aging information, reports of vendor pass-through expenses, employee address information and more.

Talk with your sales rep about the specific information you are attempting to share with QuickBooks online, and they can confirm with the support team (and the QuickBooks online SDK) that the data you need can be transferred/updated in the online edition of QuickBooks.
