When we talk about security in BigTime, we are talking about three different things: basic "system-wide" security, project-level "team based" security, and staff-level "management rights" that prevent your managers from seeing/editing data on staff members they don't manage.
When one of your users logs into BigTime, it shows them only the information they are supposed to see. That user's system access is governed by all three of these security models.
A "manager," for example, is someone who has access to the Management menu in the system (that's a basic system security right). There, they can see the Project List screen and the Staff List screen, but when they select those screens, they don't necessarily see every project/staff member in the system.
If you aren't familiar with how to configure basic system security, or you'd like to learn more about either staff management rights or team-based security, take a quick look at the Configuration section of the System Guide. This section will assume a basic working knowledge of these concepts, and we'll talk specifically about how to assign various rights to a specific staff member.
