BigTime's Log Files

In order to make support easier, BigTime's Monitor has a fairly robust "logging" capability.

You can turn that logging on using the Monitor's View... Log Detail menu item. There are three levels of logging: basic, advanced and "custom." Each level records more information in the BigTime log files.

Typically, you'll turn on logging at the server if you are asked to do so by the BigTime support team. Most of the items that are logged in the file are fairly technical, and are meant for our trained support technicians.

Log files are stored in your c:\Program Files\BigTime\IIS\Log directory, and you can access that directory from the Monitor's View... Log Files menu. Each file is date-stamped, and they are not cleared out of the system unless you manually delete them.

Setup Log Files

In addition to these operational logs, you'll have a BTSetup.log file in your main BigTime directory (created by the setup program), and a BTUpdate.log file in that same directory. The latter is updated each time a BigTime update is run, and our support team frequently uses it to diagnose problems with your setup as they happen.
