Time Entry Rounding

When users enter timesheet information into BigTime, they enter a number of hours. Often, that entry contains a fraction (e.g. - 1.25 hours), and those fractions can lead to problems. Users may accidentally enter in the wrong fractional amount, they may type in too many digits--1.255 instead of 1.25, or they might not know what the corporate policy is regarding partial hours.

To prevent this type of data entry error, BigTime is setup by default to round time entries to the nearest quarter hour. So, your user's 1.255 entry will be rounded off to 1.25 automatically when they click the save button. If your firm tracks hours at a different level of granularity, you can change that rounding to 1/10 hour, 1/2 hour or 1 hour. You can also turn rounding off completely.

This setting is controlled from the Tools...System Settings...General Settings page, under the section titled "Time Entry Rounding." Just update the pick list and click SAVE to save your changes.
